The sheep upon the shepherd do depend,
For guidance and protection in their lives.
Without him, they would quickly be destroyed.
(Can you imagine sheep lost in the woods,
Alone, with bears and wolves on every side?)
So likewise, we who give ourselves to Christ,
Have gained a Shepherd of the highest rank,
To lead us as we make our way through life.
We know His voice, distinct from all the rest,
And when He speaks, we listen carefully,
Then follow as He guides us where to go.
I thank you, Lord, for helping in my need,
For coming to my rescue when I called.
You knew that I had gone beyond my depth,
And I was struggling, trying not to drown.
You told me not to worry, You were there,
Then suddenly, You taught me how to swim!
